Over work, under payed

As a cashier at Family Dollar it is the worst because you’re the only one really working while everyone else is slacking off if you want to work at family dollar do not be a cashier. And for my position if I were to complain about someone else it wouldn’t do anything because the supervisor and the managers are all friends and they’re getting paid more and doing nothing while I am constantly working and getting paid less

Scheduling and communication

There is a lack of communication between management and employees. The schedule is put out between Friday and Saturday for the Sunday week following. No time to plan a personal life. The pay is not worth the headache

Great place to work

Great job love my job and the people I work with. I have good management who work with me if I have any struggles. I recommend working at family dollar to any one.

Alright

My location was bad but everything else was fine. the biggest issue is the customers and amount of work needed to be done by 1 person. Not the best but not the worst

They treat you like family and understand that life happens and things happen and they will help if you have a family problem and they will make sure your good and able to work

Fun place to work

I enjoyed working with the company but as management they expect you to go over and beyond with no compensation. The company should show their employees more appreciation. They have a LP program but no type of security in all stores. Safety needs to be their number 1 concern.

Lack of help,

Relocated from Nashville Tn to Clearwater Fl. With one employee scheduled for almost 8 hours during the day, almost evety scheduled work day, how much do they expect for you to get done. I'm working freight, working register, recovering,checking in vendors, doing go backs, TRYING to clean areas of the store,INCLUDING restroom. Helping customers locate items they need because thats how I do. I dont point. I walk them to the items. I work everyday scheduled and work hours when associates calls out or don't want to work scheduled days. I request days off before the next schedule is completed and I have a issue. I loved working in retail but this has done it for me..

A good day working at this just is everybody getting to work on time and coming in and getting work done helping each other when needed and giving tasks and challenges to yourself to get a certain tasks done

Workplace

The management sucks, they do not care about you or your health. Rude. Disrespectful. Corporate needs to be wiped out and have new respectful people all together. I wish I could name names. They seem nice in hidden doors but I just shut my mouth and let them run there mouths.

Since we’ve gotten new upper management it’s been a pleasure to go to work knowing you have upper managements support! Upper management is very motivating and goes above & beyond to help you succeed! I’m very satisfied

productive but not the greatest pay

family dollar is a decent company but the pay however is not the greatest. depending on the manager is how you will be working in that environment. i know with my manager she is the best and will go above and beyond for you. but also understands when things come up also.

The pay rate for managers is different for all managers but they dont tell you that when you first become a manager which is not right and not a good environment

Dated and disconnected from corporate to store needs

As this country struggles with horrible leadership, excessive inflation, and hidden agendas, it seems that corporate is blind or uncaring about their employees. Expenses in every aspect of the associates lives have increased, the company continues to refuse to increase pay rates to a living wage. Hiring qualified individuals is virtually impossible as the rate is much lower than most other companies, many who are hired, quit soon after because the expectations for the low pay are too high, they find better or higher paying opportunity. For employees that have been there for a long time, work/life balance is a challenge. Store managers are compensated much better with pay, however when problems arise, they are expected to handle it, regardless of how many hours it takes. The reality is that little support is given, and you can be expected to work open to close, weeks on end with no days off, and the bare minimum assistance for finding staff. You will be asked to give more and more, and if you refuse, you get nothing. Well, except blamed for the problem. Even those that have gone above and beyond for years are forgotten about once they stop. Severe supply chain issues are making it harder for smaller stores to stay profitable. The only way this company changes its current path to failure, is to finally accept that the employees are also their customers and the ones that keep the doors open. They need to raise their pay so they can afford what they need: to pay their bills, rent/mortgage, gas for transportation, child care, everything. I loved my job at one time, I still -

Very fun workplace

I loved this job and the people I worked with. This job made me excited to show up. I wish I still worked there. I miss it so so much. Best job ever.

Laid back, simple, good supplementary job

Work the register, stock the shelves, explain basic concepts to confused old people. Low intensity, frequently boring, most tasks are pointless drudgery. Breaks are minimal, no benefits, poor pay. Lazy, laid-back environment. Emphasizes on customer service, but customers are typically crass and rude. Very flexible hours, simple work, and cool coworkers and management. I only stayed because of the people I worked with.

Not good if you have real bills

Terrible pay, unprofessional managers, just overall ghetto. Also played with my hours and reduced them drastically. Good job for young people with no experience

Alright place to work butt they expect u to work morn , nights and weekends. Everyone .

Easy if you are a cashier butt if u are a key holder it's very consuming as far as scheduling , truck delivery and stocking the store. Can be long hours.

Good Job for someone out of high school not a career for supporting a family, you will never see them!!

I would suggest this job to someone who does not have a family. This job will require a lot of time and energy. If you are starting as a cashier from high school then it is a good job. If you have a family to support be prepared to break your back, long hours and cooperate does not offer support, They feel they pay enough I guess, and this is why you get the workers you get. If you want people to do their best jobs, must pay people more ... I loved my co workers for the most part however.

Not a good work environment.

They have no security you have to do everything like stock, cashier, and security. The people come in with bad attitudes and you have no back up all you can do is call police.
